Counselling for Depression

“Happiness often sneaks in through a door you didn’t know you left open.”

John Barrymore

When depression strikes, you feel helpless and stuck.  That is what depression does to you.  Happiness seems impossible to attain.

It takes the pleasure away from activities and things that you used to enjoy. Depression makes you see everything through grey-tinted glasses and eradicates hope and energy.

In short, depression is a parasite that sucks pleasure and happiness from your life.

Understanding how depression works and what it needs to keep its grip on you, you will gain power and control over it.  Joyfulness and hope will begin to sprout.

I received training from Uncommon Knowledge Ltd (UK) in a methodology of treating depression that focuses on getting you feeling better quickly.

In our first session together, I will explain why you are feeling this way. Depression has a lot to do with the stress that you are currently experiencing, and that leads to physical and mental exhaustion.

Then I will work quickly to help you feel better by using deep relaxation with you. When you are relaxed, you create possibility for your brain to learn. Depression deprives the brain of its ability to pay attention and retain information.

After the first session, my hope is for you to feel better than you have in a long time.

Depression doesn’t lift overnight.

In the following sessions, we will work together to:

  • reduce the amount of worrying and introspection you are doing
  • finding solutions to problems that are stressing you
  • work on any difficulties in relationship that you may be experiencing
  • help you to learn skills to manage negative thoughts
  • create healthy boundaries
  • implement a self-care plan

As you feel better, gradually introduce elements to your life that will protect you from becoming depressed again
